Mitt Romney’s Character

We have heard small everyday story through Facebook or twitter or even on the radio about the realness of Gov. Romney and yet there still persist this idea that Gov Romney is stiff, aloof and uncaring.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  I have now had not opportunity to see Gov. Romney on three different occasions and not only is that man a genuine man but he is a real man who is mindful of others.

The first time I saw him was at the Ashbrook Center’s annual dinner in 2010.  If he had notes for this speech you could not tell at all.  No teleprompter no looking down at the podium and energy and warmth was spilling over the room as he spoke.  Same thing when I saw him in Mansfield  this past week except with more energy – if that is possible.  What a great time and a great crowd.  But I too have my own story about a man that I have only briefly met……

I attended a rally in Canton some months back and brought my six year old daughter.  We ended up in the second row back from the staging area and waited for some time for the Governor and his wife to come out.  The first thing I noticed was that Gov. Romney absolutely adores his wife Ann.  The entire time she was speaking, he never took his eyes off of her which melted my own heart as I am sure it did any other woman there who noticed.  To see such love between two people who love this country with nearly as much passion is heartwarming.  After the Governor then finished speaking, he went around and shook everyone’s hands.  The two young people in front of my daughter and I were so gracious and let her stand in between then so she could meet the Governor.  When the Governor finally came to us he did to Katharine what he had done to every small child he had a chance to meet and that was to get down to their height as best as his long lanky frame could do. How thrilling it was for my daughter to be treated as an equal by a man who could and will become the next President of the United States of America. But even more impressive was that he treated like a human being who was as important as any of the actual voters who were there.

Governor Romney at that moment confirmed the decision I had made many years prior to this election season.  He is truly the right man to be President of the United States and his family is the right family to represent this country. Here are some other stories of similar acts of kindness by Governor Romney.
